Tips to Avoid Wasting Money on Your Home Renovation
Building or renovating your home?
It's very easy to run into costly mistakes or regrets that you'll realise too late in the process. Here is my advice on how to avoid these!
Do your research
Plan your space ahead of time.
Really exhaust every option available with your home, and maximise every aspect including every window, every area of storage and every quirk.
You'll thank yourself for it later, making off-hand decisions about where you may spend the next 10-30 years is never a good idea!
2. Understand your priorities
Make your home exactly what you want it to be, and if you can add additional value along the way, even better.
Don't cut corners and cut the expenditure where it really matters.
Building the right framework will give you endless opportunities to furnish, dress and improve your home in the future, so don't cut back in the early days. Really think through each decision.
3. Prepare, well in advance
You're going to be asked to make a lot of decisions, and typically these come hard and fast from start to finish.
It's exhausting and decision fatigue exists in every client who I've seen go through this process alone.
Making last minute decisions on finishes either means you'll be spending more on getting the ones that you want because they're the only ones in stock, or you'll be faced with settling for another finish that you weren't sold on, because you needed it at the eleventh hour.
4. Get advice, it'll be worth it in the enD
